The most divisive Spidey saga of all time... Review by Ryan
-
I'm probably one of the few Spider-Man fans that actually enjoys the 90s Clone Saga. For those unaware, the story dominated the million different Spidey titles in print at the time, focusing on the re-emergence of the original Spider-Man clone, who had supposedly died in battle with Peter Parker during the 1970s. With the mysterious, murderous Kaine not far behind, Peter Parker's world is flipped upside down. While initially boosting sales of the various Spidey titles, the writers were pressured into prolonging the saga, stretching it out to just over two years (the saga was only supposed to last a few months initially!). During these two years, Spidey faced various new clones, new threats, new mysterious, and questions surrounding whether this original clone, now named Ben Reilly, was really a clone or not. I collected the Clone Saga in the Clone Saga Epic format, which was stretched over eleven(!) books, and so seeing this omnibus (which roughly collects the first four books) makes me feel disappointed I didn't wait for these!
